About the role

We are looking for a Lead Laboratory and Sampling for our fully automated Iron Ore Laboratory.

  • Provide leadership of the Shift Laboratory Operators & Technicians in an automated and robotic environment, through reviewing work outputs, roster organisation, training and performance appraisals.
  • Monitoring maintenance & calibration of sampling and analysis equipment which includes: Citect, automated analytical cell comprising, Panalytical XRF's, LECO TGA's and automated sample preparation equipment.
  • Maintain and update QA / QC records so that ISO compliance is auditable and up to date.
  • To ensure all Rio Tinto Health and Safety Standards, policies and procedures are being adhered to and driving a proactive safety culture within the laboratory team.
  • Ensure succession planning and development of team members including appropriate training and assessment in order for employees to competently, safely and productively perform all aspects of their role.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs with vendors and suppliers.

What you'll bring

This position has a direct value add impact to the Fixed Plant team and deliverables. An understanding and knowledge of the value chain is required as well as leadership capability in a technologically advanced facility. Key requirements are:
  • Degree in Chemistry, Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or similar
  • Experience in ISO 3082 Sampling and sample preparation procedures
  • Current C Class Drivers license.
  • SAP or similar maintenance system experience
  • Previous automated sampling and sample plants experience
  • XRF instrumentation, trouble shooting and fault finding experience
