Job Description: Extractive Metallurgist / Process Engineer

For our client, a mining organisation with a strong track record of success with projects in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, we are searching for an Extractive Metallurgist / Process Engineer. This is a FIFO position, and will play a key role in the construction, commissioning, and ramp-up phase of this new Gold Mine in East Africa. 

Role:

• Lead the implementation for mineral/chemical processing and extractive metallurgical.
• Provide support for all other technical/engineering areas where required.
• Assist with the delivery, construction, of the processing plant on site.
• Provide in depth technical reports and equipment specifications whilst also estimating operating costs.
• Take a leadership role for the commissioning and ramp-up phases of the plant.
• Present process flow charts to senior leadership.
• Implement best-in-class CIP techniques for the site.
• Liaise with local communities to assure that the project is delivered on time and in sustainable manner.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, metallurgy, mineral processing, or materials science
• Experience with CIP (Carbon in Pulp) techniques and implementation on mine sites
• 10+ years of related experience
• Experience working on projects at early-stage construction in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to work cross-culturally and understand national sensitives
• Willingness to work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative
• A flexible working style with a capacity to adapt quickly
