Process Superintendent – Technical

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over one million tonnes of copper cathode and over 1.2 million ounces of gold doré. In 2020, Sepon produced over 39,730 tonnes of copper and 64,809 ounces of gold doré. Sepon is projected to produce over 250,000 ounces of gold doré in 2021.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transtion from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merging and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

To support our operation, we are seeking a qualified candidate in the position of Process Superintendent – Technical.
Reporting directly to the Processing Manager, this role is to effectively lead and manage technical team in the Gold and Copper Processing plants to deliver volume and ensure the safe and cost-efficient operation of the assets in delivering the Sepon business plan.

Key responsibilities include:
• Lead the metallurgical supervision in the output of daily strategy meeting in relation to plant performance, bottlenecks, threats and risks.
• Develop test work programs to increase plant efficiency.
• Review and recommend projects to overcome issue either by innovation or new technology.
• Coach and support the capability development of the metallurgist team.
• Coordinate activities across areas to achieve an optimal group outcome.
• Manage budgeting and operating expenditure in the accountable plant areas.
• Assist in building annual operating plans and capital plans for processing department.
• Provide input into the evaluation of capital projects in the existing operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Degree qualified in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering or equivalent is essential.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in similar processing plants.
• Minimum of 3 years full-time Superintendent experience.
• Extensive knowledge of Processing unit operations and metallurgical activities.
• High level of operating skills in two or more of the unit operations present in the gold and copper plant including:
o Crushing, Milling, CCD thickening, flotation, atmospheric leaching, pressure leaching, CIL and stripping, Solvent Extraction (SX), Electro-winning (EW), Oxygen plant,Tailings/ Neutralisation, Water treatment.
• Exposure to formal continuous improvement methodologies will be highly regarded.
