POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Magino VP General Manager, the Environmental Manager provides leadership and direction in environmental management at the mine. As a member of the Magino Leadership team, participate in the overall management of the operations to ensure that production and profitability targets are achieved and that all activities at the site operate within environmental policies and regulations.

The role will focus on developing and implementing the Environmental Management System, organizing team development, roster and schedule development, and site development of environmental practices, policies and procedures. As this is a startup operation, the successful candidate must have a strong focus on employee development.

MAGINO MINE:
The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold per year during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for a team of environmental staff at the start of project construction.
  • Implementation of the Construction Phase Environmental Management System.
  • Ensuring the company meets various regulatory conditions, company commitments and permit conditions.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
  • Environmental data tracking and producing environmental compliance reports.
  • Prepare annual Environmental budget, resource requirements and plans.
  • Manages environmental reporting records, permitting as well as submit required reports to regulatory agencies
  • Ensure timely, accurate and well communicated reporting of business performance. Prepare necessary Environmental reports.
  • As a member of the site leadership team play a leadership role to ensure positive community relations is maintained within the communities surrounding the operational areas of the respective mine


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A College or University degree in the Environmental Sciences or Engineering.
  • G Class Driver's License (Required)
  • A minimum of 2 years prior industrial site environmental management implementation experience at a Manager level.
  • Mining operational experience is preferred but other similar industrial site experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada Environmental Assessment Decision Conditions pertinent to major mining projects.
  • Working at a major construction site managing contractors and ensuring environmental controls and reporting requirements are met.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of four days on and three days off, twelve hour days.
