Environmental Systems Engineer

Location: Columbus Montana

POSITION SUMMARY: The Environmental Systems Engineer is a seasoned environmental professional with systems experience who will serve as Sibanye Stillwater's environmental management system (EMS) expert and organize the various EMS components across the operations. The position involves organizing, communicating, and verifying systems-based environmental management at US Region operations in order to promote continuous improvement and maintain certification with international standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assists Environmental leadership team with development and maintenance of the US Region EMS.
• Coordinates EMS compliance with ISO 14001 standards.
• Coordinates EMS compliance with ICMM standards.
• Develops and directs technology solutions for EMS efficiency.
• Supports, trains, and coaches Environmental staff in the use of databases, recordkeeping tools, software tools, and protocols for EMS documentation.
• Coaches site leadership teams in their EMS responsibilities and participate in leadership EMS reviews.
• Coordinates and tracks audits (ISO, ICMM, operational, GNA, and internal corporate environmental).
• Develops KPI tracking and environmental dashboards in consultation with site environmental teams.
• Manages EMS software solution contracts.
• Assists with corporate ESG reporting and stakeholder engagement tracking.
• Coordinates miscellaneous corporate ESG information requests.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• BS, MS, or Technical Degree in environmental or engineering fields and 5 years of environmental management or systems experience within the mining industry or related industry.
• Systems-based work philosophy; direct experience building or managing EMS preferred.
• Strong leadership qualities: character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision.
• Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Specific experience with EMS, ISO 14001, and ICMM a plus.
