Reporting to the Environment Coordinator, the Environmental Technician will be responsible for various related activities to support the overall success of the project.

This position will be a temporary (6 month) contract based at Kemess Mine on 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule, 12 hour shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Data collection for various environmental monitoring programs
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Implementation of erosion and sediment control best practices
  • Assist with data analysis and regulatory reporting
  • Assistance with reclamation activities
  • Assistance with waste management and spill response activities
  • Assistance with contaminated sites investigations and soil remediation


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Previous experience or education on environmental monitoring is considered asset
  • A Driver's License is an asset
  • Good computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Physically able and willing to work in adverse conditions
  • Back-country experience operating snowmobiles and ATVs is required
  • Self motivated, team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to thrive in a fast-past environment with multiple priorities
