Hatch is currently seeking a Material Handling Consultant Engineer - responsible for engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The Mechanical Engineer is broadly responsible for establishing system requirements, performing functional analyses, defining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports. In addition, the Mechanical Engineer is required to develop, or provide input into, 3D models and 2D drawings. The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer on a large project and to the Project Manager or the Engineering Manager on a small project. The Mechanical Engineer may supervise junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists on a project. The Mechanical Engineer is expected to mentor young engineers as part of their career development programs.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
• Perform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and establish system layouts and designs
• Prepare engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, equipment sizing and tank, pressure vessel and bin design and ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements
• Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines
• Conduct interface management between related systems
