Our client is seeking a Chief Mine Engineer responsible for oversight and execution of the mine plan to put the mine back into production. The incumbent must have narrow vein hard rock mine start up experience and be extremely computer literate.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports development of the Life of Mine production plan and assist in the creation of the 5-year capital plan. Ensure preparation of scheduled production forecasts. Provides mine planning and technical services to the operating team.
  • Lead management routines established within an Asset Management Framework. Utilize smart work practices to approve, plan, schedule, and execute tasks within the area(s)
  • Develop innovative opportunities to improve the efficiency of operations. Ensure the technical group is delivering the desired service to the operation
  • Expand the capability of the area(s) of accountability, to achieve continuous improvement, while balancing the allocation of resources, meeting quantity and quality output requirements for the internal and/or external "Customers".
  • Develops and recommends mining plans, ground support systems and development plans.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new systems/processes and provide guidance, auditing, mentoring, and analysis support to the management team.
  • With the application of engineering principles, prepare mine design packages at the level of detail required to validate and prepare for operations.
  • Perform comparative analyses, optimize mining plans, and lead the integration of plans within existing plans.
  • Through designs, identify and recommend opportunities for safety, technology, productivity, and costs improvements while ensuring the safeguarding of life, health, environment, and property.
  • Participate in and lead the meeting routines to update site and senior management as required.
  • Audit and analyze systems within the area(s) of accountability to achieve the following outputs:
    • Zero Harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
    • Maximizing economic resource recovery.
    • Achieve total product and unit cost, and capital expenditure targets.
    • Ensure Safe Production behaviors are exhibited by all team members and take corrective action when necessary to address noncompliance.

Experience:
  • 10 years of progressive experience in underground mining engineering.
  • Experience in mine economics and LOMP preparation.
  • Capital Project experience an asset.
  • A university degree in Mine Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, company standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of underground mine design, mining engineering, drilling/blasting, backfilling, ventilation, scheduling, surveying, incentives, mine's metrics tracking required.
  • Knowledge of mine design, and engineering software, (Vulcan, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite,
  • Underground Hard Rock Narrow vein mining experience is critical.
