ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Underground Maintenance General Supervisor supervises the maintenance team and works in close collaboration with members of the other departments of the mine. The General Supervisor ensures required improvements are made in their department and works with the team to allow for efficient operations. The supervisor ensures that the goals and objectives are attained, while respecting and encouraging Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.



Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the Maintenance Department for all operations on site;
  • Ensure that the maintenance team works efficiently with all resources at their disposal;
  • Prepare the allocated budget and control costs for the upcoming operations;
  • Provide specific training and development opportunities for immediate employees;
  • Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds all production requirements by ensuring that all mobile equipment fleets are maintained in a safe, efficient and effective manner on their shift;
  • Provide technical feedback and complete technical bid evaluations for maintenance assets during the procurement process;
  • Coach and mentor subordinates in regard to employee relations, safety, environmental, productivity and cost issues and address inappropriate behavior as required;
  • Oversee investigations involving safety incidents, accidents and near-misses;
  • Ensure that reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Recommend procedures and methods to improve employee safety.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Professional diploma in heavy equipment mechanics or power mechanics, or equivalent;
  • 10+ years of experience in the mechanical field;
  • Proven experience in supervision;
  • Red Seal or Journeyman certification is considered an asset;
  • Experience in the mining industry with mobile, surface, open pit and underground equipment is required;
  • JDE working knowledge is considered an asset;
  • Hold or be eligible for a Level 2 Supervisor Certification, as per the Mining Act;
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid First Aid Certificate;
  • Common Core or Mining Module certificates will be considered as an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 10 days of work, followed by 10 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
