We are proud to be the largest gold producer listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. From our Head Office in Melbourne, we work closely with our operations both local and global to safely operate and grow. Based on St Kilda Road, our Melbourne Head Office is easily accessible by public transport or car, with discounted parking available, and located across the road from the Albert Park Lake. Who we are looking for

Our Melbourne Head Office is on the lookout for a skilled and qualified Senior Financial Accountant to assist in the preparation of Newcrest's annual and half-year financial statements and provide technical accounting input into key accounting and financial reporting processes.

Reporting to the Manager Group Accounting, this challenging yet rewarding role spans all Newcrest Operations, Functions, Exploration and Joint Venture interests globally providing significant exposure to technical accounting matters across the business.

Key focus areas of the role include:
  • Lead the planning and review of the Group's Year-End and Half-Year external financial reports in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Managing compliance/review process for local statutory financial reports
  • Preparation of technical accounting papers
  • Execution of the annual Stewardship process
  • Co-ordination of month-end reporting for the Group, including review of monthly consolidation entries and
  • Support for special project tasks


To ensure success in this role, you will be an independent thinker with an inquisitive attitude and the ability to hold conversations easily across all facets of the business. Through your highly tuned problem-solving and decision-making abilities coupled with proven commercial sense, you will make a real impact and be a trusted asset in the team. Background in a Big 4 accounting firm and/or in a large/complex corporate organisation will be essential for the role.

You will ideally also possess:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce
  • Completed professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in financial accounting roles; experience within Mining or Resources industry will be viewed favourably
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and application
  • Extensive experience preparing, reviewing or auditing listed company statutory financial statements
  • Experience working with SAP


Please note: This is a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract, based in Melbourne on a 5/2 roster (Mon - Fri).
