Reporting to the Manager, Geoscience and Materials, AB, supporting a wide variety of projects across our western Canadian offices.  The successful candidate will lead a wide variety of water resource, hydrology, and geosciences studies.  The incumbent will be responsible for business development and daily operations of the hydrology work in the Geoscience & Material Division for the Prairie Provinces.  The successful candidate will supervise surface water modelling (hydraulics and hydrological) and drainage designs by working with various departments in our Calgary and Edmonton offices, and other SNC‑Lavalin offices.

How will you contribute to the team?
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.  Being the key client contact for Hydrology and Water Resource projects
  • Planning and managing all aspects of projects including resources, schedules, budgets, quality and deliverables
  • Preparation of technical proposals and reports
  • Hydrological and hydraulic modelling review
  • Perform leadership duties including recruitment and mentoring staff as well as performing senior technical reviews
  • Help grow and manage the division by identifying business development targets, developing and implementing expansion strategies


Experience in the following technical areas would be an asset:
  • Develop hydrologic models for flood studies and water resources solutions
  • Stormwater management
  • Hydraulic calculations (e.g. design of ditches, culverts and pipelines)
  • Knowledge in climate change adaptability
  • Infrastructure (deep utilities) design
  • Asset management


What will you contribute?
  • University degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources or Earth Sciences
  • Currently registered or eligible to register as a member of APEGA
  • Minimum 6 years experience in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater, water resources engineering projects, and project management
  • Good understanding of consulting business with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a consulting environment
  • Experience in the Prairie Provinces as well as the Northern Canada is considered an asset
  • Effective interpersonal skills, a strong client-service focus and the ability to work in a team environment are essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience in writing and winning proposals will be considered an asset
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, meet established deadlines and supervise staff
  • Strong business development skills
  • Experience using specialized equipment and software (e.g. flow measurement equipment, SWMM, GeoHECRAS, HEC-RAS, EPANET, HEC-HMS) would be considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract
