New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

Position Reports To: Project Manager

Duration: This temporary opportunity is anticipated to end in February 2023.

Position Overview
The Document Controller is responsible to develop a consistent method of tracking, filing and processing all documents in a timely and efficient manner and to create and provide reports as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist project team to ensure documents are received, distributed, stored and searchable for remainder of the mine life
  • Ensure overall organization, management and maintenance of project documents and records
  • Ensure documents are up-to-date and available for use
  • Assisting site wide document control and accounting practices

Qualifications
  • 2 years experience in document control
  • Proficiency building and working with databases, electronic file management and archiving
  • Advanced SharePoint experience
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Well developed communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Proven time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Solid team player able to work well with minimal supervision

Preference will be given to applicants who possess:
  • Information and Records Management Certificate or DCC Certified Document Controller Training Course
  • Certified Document Controller designation
  • Accounting certificate
  • Knowledge of mining industry

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
  • Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements


Compensation

A competitive salary, performance bonus plan and benefits will be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
