The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an Engineer in Training - EIT to join our Manitoba Operations.

While previous experience in underground mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering
  • Must be registered or eligible to register as an Engineer in Training with the professional engineering association in Manitoba

Experience:
  • Strong computer skills are required
  • Have 1-4 years' experience from an underground mine or open pit
  • Experience with 3D mine design software (Vulcan preferred - Training will be provided)


Requirements & Accountabilities:
  • Follow Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work
  • Work Collectively with peers and cross functionally with colleagues in engineering, maintenance, and services to achieve the objectives of the plant
  • Production ITH drill hole layout.
  • Production blast design including issuing blast letters, clearing and guarding notifications, and holding pre-blast meetings.
  • Design development for accessing the ore body.
  • Ensuring that backfill of stopes is planned and issued.
  • Ensuring that ventilation systems are designed and issued for installation in your area.
  • Ensure power and drainage systems are designed for your area.
  • Economic assessment of stopes.
  • Seek out opportunities for continuous improvements and lead or participate in teams to implement them
