ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Exploration Geology Coordinator, the Exploration Geology Technician is part of the Geology Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Coordinate the core sampling team;
  • Prepare the sample shipments;
  • Manage reception, handling and storage of core boxes on a daily basis;
  • Keep the boreholes inventory and their location on the campsite updated;
  • Manage core shack inventory;
  • Perform diamond drill inspections to ensure the health and safety of workers and that environmental policies are respected;
  • Validate potential drill setups in regard to field constraints;
  • Perform the downhole survey and manage the equipment;
  • Monitor the water consumption at the drill and cutting management;
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the core shack and compliance with dust and noise standards, and maintain MinEx vehicles and tools in good order, ensuring proper maintenance is performed as required;
  • Respect and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to H&S and the environment, on a daily basis;
  • Participate in the weekly/monthly safety meeting and risk evaluations of your tasks.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • College diploma in mineral technology or equivalent;
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in gold mining;
  • Experience in production is considered an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Leadership skills and a strong sense of initiative;
  • Good knowledge of diamond drills is an asset;
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite application especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
