About this role

What will you be responsible for?

This role provides subject matter expertise to the Planning, Communications & Analysis team by utilizing and maintaining analytical and reporting tools and through the facilitation of processes and projects which support Planning leadership and senior management decision making.

The position works closely with Director, Planning, Communications and Analysis to develop Business Plan and Quarterly Forecast materials for Board, Executive leadership and regional audiences.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
  • Subject matter specialist for the department's analytical and reporting tools, including a strong understanding of BPC and ability to maintain and improve BPC functionality for a more simplified and streamlined planning and reporting process.
  • We lead the Corporate budgeting process through collecting, consolidating, analyzing and reporting results, working closely with the functional cost center managers to drive process improvements. Lead the corporate allocations process, including templates and communications, working closely with regional planning teams. Work closely with Director, Planning, Communications and Analysis to prepare Executive communications, and develop detailed templates, reports and training materials for cost center managers.
  • Contribute to and review monthly Corporate support budget reporting, and facilitate partner meetings with key members of the finance leadership team.
  • We prepare Quarterly Forecast materials, including detailed slide presentations and speaker notes, for the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Develop and evaluate Business Plan presentation materials and supporting analysis, including analysis of operational and financial performance metrics and explanation of changes in major value drivers.
  • We construct and interpret financial models and analysis.
  • We drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the planning process; analyze current business processes and procedures to identify gaps and areas of process improvement. Standardize processes and facilitate sharing of standard methodologies.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Knowledge:
  • Undergraduate degree required; preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Acuity in accounting, business and planning concepts and methodologies.
  • Broad financial and economic understanding required.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of systems experience; in planning, forecasting and consolidation software (e.g. BPC or Hyperion).
  • 3-5 years business analytics / operations experience; preferably in mining or mineral extraction-related industry.
  • Experience presenting business insights to Executives and Directors.
  • Experience required in working with global teams and interacting with all levels of management.
  • Experience in people leadership and organizational change preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytic and synthesis skills; conceptual understanding of financial data and applications of accounting principles, as well as financial modeling.
  • The role requires initiative, tact and excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships across multiple functions and all levels of management.
  • Ability to think strategically and be comfortable moving between strategic and tactical requirements.
  • Must be proficient in planning, forecasting and consolidation software (e.g. BPC or Hyperion).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
  • Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.


The salary range offered for this role is $ $98,400 to $129,150 . The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
