About the role



Reporting to the General Manager Project Services, the purpose of this role is to proactively plan and schedule field operations works, in detail, to support the safe execution MRL's exploration and pre-construction field activities. This role is critical to the safe and timely delivery of the project approvals and mineral resources required to support MRL's continued growth.

The Field Ops team will provide field support and supervision for all drilling, surveying, mapping, investigation activities on remote sites. This will include exploration and all the activities to support the activities to define the resource, environmental, geotechnical, heritage surveys to support geological activities.

Other duties will include:

  • Developing and implementing a framework for scheduling, planning and resourcing all field activities
  • Developing frameworks for program requests from internal customers ensuring quantity and quality requirements:


    • Exploration programs
    • Heritage surveys
    • Environmental surveys
    • Geological mapping
    • Geotechnical and hydrogeological surveys


  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders (eg, pastoralists, local government, exploration companies, contractors, internal customers, etc) so they are aware of all key activities
  • Participate in contract tendering and selection process


You will have

  • Tertiary degree in Geology or Engineering or similar
  • 10 + years' experience in the mining and exploration industry
  • Knowledge of safety and safe systems of work
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to provide clear direction, guidance and mentoring
