About the role

Reporting to the GM, Environment, Communities and Land Access this role will be responsible for the overall management of MRL's environment portfolio including brownfield approvals, operational support, compliance and systems, and closure and rehabilitation.

You will
  • Manage the approvals process to develop and maintain all operational license requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of operational plans sufficient to identify and lead the process of gaining environmental approvals for MRL brownfield projects, expansions or changes to existing projects.
  • Review and maintain an environmental strategy that aligns with the MRL Environmental Policy.
  • Manage MRL's mine closure and environmental rehabilitation portfolio
  • Lead MRL's environmental risk management process
  • Ensure processes are in place to effectively manage environmental statutory reporting requirements in accordance with the site environmental license conditions and legislation
  • Lead the development and implementation of an environmental management system which aligns to the ISO14001 standard.
  • Lead an environmental awareness program for the company which promotes sound environmental management practices.
  • Identify the need for and provide appropriate levels of environmental support and governance to other MRL business units.
  • Support and mentor a team of environmental professionals

What you'll bring to the team
  • Bachelor Degree (or higher) - Environmental Science or related field
  • 15+ years experience in an environmental mining roles
  • 5+ years experience in environmental management roles
  • Extensive experience gaining environmental approvals, both state and federal
  • Extensive experience with environmental management system development, implementation and compliance.
