We are looking for a Specialist Business Services to join the Iron Ore Health and Safety Team, to partner with the business leadership team to facilitate coordination of planning, performance and improvement initiatives within the health and safety function of the Iron Ore business.

Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Business Partner and working in a challenging and exciting environment, within the Iron Ore Health and Safety department you will be:
  • Leading improvement initiatives for the business directly related to health and safety
  • Developing and implementing strategies that improve performance within the health and safety function
  • A key influencer and responsible team member of the site senior leadership team
  • Ensuring clear direction and stakeholder management is upheld within direct area of accountability
  • Preparing annual budgets, plans and manage costs and value delivery in area of responsibility
  • Risk champion and governance for HS risks
  • Managing a robust internal compliance overview with targeted 1st party assurance of risks and control monitoring systems/practices
  • Driving innovation through performance analysis, data insights and alignment across resources and improvement work.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, presentation & negotiation skill, with demonstrated ability in influencing others
  • Demonstrated experience leading business improvement projects and achieving tangible outcomes
  • Leadership experience and be confident in leading, developing and coaching team members
  • Experience in or sound knowledge of business improvement methodologies and tools (such as six sigma, PPS and Lean)
  • An understanding of applied health and safety methodologies

Where you'll be working

Working Monday to Friday, you will be primarily based from our Central Park office. Our office space is conveniently positioned within the Perth CBD with easy access to public transport. Some irregular site travel will be required.

This role is for applicants residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia. Rio Tinto offers Fly in and fly out options from Perth, our regional FIFO hubs and the opportunity to live in our residential towns where applicable.
