Position summary
Technology & Communication Services, part of the Utilities business, provides an end-to-end communications and infrastructure service offering comprising feasibility, design, site acquisition, construction, integration, operations and maintenance, warehousing, logistics and project management services across fibre, copper and radio networks.

We Develop, Design and Construct, Operate & Maintain:

• Communication networks (fixed and wireless) for Telecommunications, Private & Government Enterprise
• Distributed domestic and commercial New Energy solutions
• Systems/data devices that make cities & homes more connected with smart services

Due to ongoing project success and an increasing pipeline of wireless projects, we are seeking applications from suitably qualified Structural Engineer with experience in wireless, mobile carrier structural design and analysis. This role is based in Melbourne, VIC.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and project support team members the primary objective is to undertake structural analysis and design related activities of mobile base station facilities from feasibility to detailed design stage by ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with client design requirements, Australian Standards and relevant legislative requirements.

ABOUT YOU

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Australia with mobile carrier projects
• Hold Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia in civil or structural engineering disciplines and on Engineer Australia's National Professional Engineers Register (NPER).
• Working knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian standards relating to structural engineering, analysis, design applicable to Telco: Rooftops, Lattice towers, guyed masts, monopole structures.
• Ability to undertake site inspections and capture all relevant site data & to identify site hazards and facilitate a structural engineering solution.
• Proficient with structural analysis software including: SpaceGass, MS Tower, Checkpole, L-pile, TEDDS.
• Proficient with Bluebeam Revu & Microsoft application
• Experience preparing concept and detail design instructions for CAD
• Understanding of Safety in Design requirements
• Ability to effectivity communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Provide technical structural engineering support and advise to field staff
• Proficient with AutoCAD & drawing standards desirable
• Working knowledge of Telstra SAED process desirable
• Client focused with application of commercial acumen in all matters
• Highly developed organisational and time management skills for multiple concurrent designs in progress; ability to re-arrange and interrupt work
• Flexibility to collaborate effectively in cross functional teams, adapting to different requirements, clients and colleagues - and achieve strong working relationships
• Continuous improvement (innovation) and knowledge sharing
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral - able to present technical information to a range of audiences
• Perseverance with excellent analytical and problem solving skills, using critical thinking
• Initiative and ability to think quickly to find solutions
