Fortescue is now consistently producing more than 175-180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead, establishing itself for future growth in a global market through innovation, product diversification and asset development.

The company is scheduled to commence production at its Iron Bridge magnetite mine in mid-2022.

Iron Bridge is Fortescue's US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Environmental Advisor - Fixed term contract

Work Location: Iron Bridge

Roster: 14D/7R FIFO ex Perth

Fortescue's Iron Bridge Project is looking for an experienced environmental advisor who will report directly to the Superintended Environment. The role will primarily be responsible for environmental monitoring and data analysis, compliance verification and reporting, communication and stakeholder engagement.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Environmental incident response, review and support
  • Compliance verification of legal environmental obligations
  • Review and advice on ground disturbance activities
  • Drafting of statutory compliance reports
  • Completion of work area inspections
  • Carry out environmental monitoring activities required by various environmental approvals
  • Analysis and interpretation of monitoring data
  • Investigation of potential exceedances of targets and trigger levels
  • Assist with the development and implementation of corrective/ preventative actions where required
  • Development and delivery of environmental training and communications material

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 2-3 years minimum resource sector experience
  • Tertiary qualification within Environmental Science, Management or Engineering discipline
  • Sound knowledge of relevant West Australian environmental legislation and environmental approval process
  • Knowledge of EMS and key facets of environmental management
  • Ability to work with, and form positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize effectively
  • Positive can do attitude
