Engineering Student

As part of the SNC-Lavalin group of companies, Power Solutions group of Power, Grid and Industrial Solutions (PGIS) division designs, develops, and delivers engineering, including system planning and studies, procurement, and construction solutions for transmission & distribution lines and substations for Power utilities and Industrial clients in North America and abroad.

SNC-Lavalin PGIS division has an career opportunity for an Electrical student in the field of Transmission and Distribution. 

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • Assist the designer and drafting personnel in developing physical layout drawings, One line diagrams, Elementary Schematics, Wiring diagrams.
  • Assist the Engineering Specialists in preparing Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.
  • Assist Senior Engineers in compiling spreadsheet to capture technical evaluation of bids.
  • Coordinate and attend relevant meetings.
  • Draft, format and generate a variety of correspondence - Examples: Minutes of Meeting, Power Point Presentations, Transmittal Sheet, Cover letters etc.
  • Filing and/or scanning various project documents (paper and electronic files).
  • Build and maintain the document control processes and tool sets for a project.
  • Provide ongoing support of the Engineering Library (including initial set up and organization).
  • Assist with preparing and issuing status reports for both internal and external clients.
  • Take part in the preparation of client return data files.


What will you contribute?
  • Enrolled in a post secondary technical or engineering degree program – Electrical Engineering or Architectural or Civil Engineering field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Visio, Power Point, and Adobe.
  • A willingness to learn new skills to add to document management expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to deal with competing priorities.
