Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, have a keen interest in a fast paced work environment, and be proficient in organization, and time/budget management. The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professional staff including engineers, subcontractors and clients.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, technologists and Project Managers in preparation of drawings and document packages, specifications, calculations, reports and figures, and solving technical design and field engineering problems.
  • 3D modeling of structures/designs and coordination on multidiscipline projects
  • Revise drawings based on instructions from engineers and changing project requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare project specifications
  • Participate in technical studies and report preparation
  • Contribute to planning, budgeting and scheduling of work to achieve prescribed objectives
  • Prepare progress reports and monitor project controls
  • Review substitutions in materials and payment for complete work
  • Consult with other departments, suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications
  • Maintain accurate design files for project documentation and reference
  • Keep abreast of new technical developments and skills and estimate their impacts
  • Provide construction phase services, e.g. shop drawings review, field reviews and assessments, progress reports, etc.
  • Project specific roles as determined by project or department manager


What will you contribute?
  • Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma from a recognized college, or graduate from a BIM/drafting program
  • Two years plus experience in BIM software (REVIT) for the production of building design drawings used in the construction industry
  • Preference will be given to experience with structural system modeling.
  • Familiarity with application of Client supplied CADD/BIM drawings standards for organization, presentation and quality of drawing deliverables
  • Working knowledge of structural building/bridge systems and construction means and methods.
  • Working knowledge of coordination requirements in multi-discipline BIM design teams, familiarity with interpretation of architectural and structural building models.
  • Good understanding of engineering disciplines and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields;
  • Familiarity with company’s established guidelines, procedures and practices as well as other departments, suppliers and contractors;
  • Good understanding of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria;
  • Proficiency in a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques;
  • Ability to handle challenges and work under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Eligible Candidate for CISD Reliability Clearance (requires fingerprinting).
