Join the innovative team deploying and managing Newmont Boddington Gold's Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) -the World's First Open Pit Gold AHS Operation.

Delivery of the fleet has commenced and with trials in the Autonomous Operating Zone scheduled for Q1, 2021, now is the time to join Newmont and be part of mining history as the project comes to fruition in Q3, 2021.

These 24 Month Fixed Term opportunities will form an integral part of our AHS team and will be responsible for ensuring the mine plan is delivered to design, and executedto plan whilst AHS is deployed.

Who you are

Your Mining Engineering or equivalent degree together with your technical experience in Drill and Blast or Load and Haul in a large open cut autonomous miningenvironment is essential.

You will have excellent communication skills with a proven ability to influence, involve and gain the cooperation and consensus of a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure short term operational objectives are achieved.

Advanced PC skills and computer literacy including experience Minestar, Command andglobal mine planning software packages as well as a proven history in deliveringresults to schedule and plan while having demonstrated a proactive commitment to a safe working environment will be key to your success in the role.

Duties will include
  • Generating, implementing and reconciling the daily and weekly mine plan, identifying where variances occur and ensuring alignment with the monthly mine plan.
  • Proactively promote the mine plan ensuring personnel within the planning team are able to discuss and provide feedback, areas of concern or bottlenecks, these are documented and mitigation steps implemented to manage these.
  • Design and implement infrastructure, dump and stockpile, road maintenance, ramps and roads in accordance to LOM design, through field review and in conjunction with Mine Operations and drive compliance to site standards.
  • Producing blast pattern designs of varying degrees of difficulty and producing non electric and electronic blast tie-ins according to geotechnical, geology and best practice requirements.
  • Conduct and lead mine operation productivity improvement projects with a particular emphasis on AHS Fleet.
  • Assist the Senior Production Planning Engineer to continue to develop and improve the planning process.
  • Developing purposeful working relationships with key stakeholder groups across the operation.
  • Report on adherence to plan and communicate up to a Superintendent level.
  • Producing blast pattern designs of varying degrees of difficulty and producing non electric and electronic blast tie-ins according to geotechnical, geology and best practice requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership through technical ability from practical experience and working knowledge.
  • Communicate field performance and learnings to Mine Operations staff.
