Welcome to the Brucejack Mine!

Headquartered in Vancouver, BC, Pretium is creating value through gold by ramping up production of the 100%-owned underground Brucejack gold mine. Commercial production was announced July 2017. Located 65 kilometers north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia. The high-grade gold opportunity at Brucejack is one of the largest and highest-grading gold mines. A feasibility study completed in June 2014 and updated in December 2016 has outlined Proven and Probable mineral reserves in Brucejack’s Valley of the Kings comprising 8.1 million ounces of gold (15.6 million tonnes grading 16.1 grams per tonne gold). Pretium is advancing Brucejack to production as a 2,700 tonnes per day underground mine. Pretium trades on the TSX and NYSE under the ticker symbol "PVG".

About the Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Human Resources Advisor to join our team at the Brucejack mine on 13 days on/13 days off rotation and 2 travel days.

This position reports to the Human Resources Superintendent and is based at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine Site.

Job Purpose & Accountability:

The Senior Human Resources Advisor supports the Brucejack Mine by leading activities related to core Human Resources policies, procedures and programs including but not limited to: full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, performance management, investigations, workforce planning and other key human resources functions and strategic projects.

This position works directly with all members of the HR Team (including the Vancouver based team), employees, site supervisors, mine management and the Brucejack Mine General Manager to ensure the timely execution of related HR activities, duties, responsibilities and accountabilities are handled in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

This fast-paced role calls for an energetic, dynamic and highly organized professional to perform the duties and responsibilities with safety being the number one priority:

  • Provide daily HR support and coaching to management and employees in areas related to HR Policies, Procedures and Employee Relations;
  • Support management in building an organizational culture based on trust, openness and accountability.
  • Lead recruitment activities and be accountable for updating and /or preparing job descriptions, preparing job postings and advertisements for both internal and external web sites, coordinating interviews, reference checks, telephone interview and resume screening and ensure that all related documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Coordinate and support onboarding of new hires by preparing offer letters, new hire packages and managing new hire paperwork and delivering the orientation program;
  • Update, maintain and manage master employee information and employee status changes in our HR information data records and systems (JD Edwards HRIS module) and create regular HR reports and KPI’s.
  • Oversee WCB claims and injury management and serve as point of contact with DMI, our WCB claim management contractor;
  • Coordinate with Supervisors and our disability insurance provider to ensure the timely, safe return to work of employees.  
  • You may be required to assist with the day-to-day administration, processing and maintenance of human resources programs and services. This may include: data entry, tracking systems, record keeping, compiling data and processing transactions in any of the HR program areas.
  • Develop HR programs, policies and processes and ensure that they are implemented in a manner that supports the organization’s Mission, Vision and Values;
  • Support and guide Employees, Supervisors and Management in performance management best practices that are in alignment with the company’s values.
  • Facilitate and coordinate training sessions, wellness programs, and other training initiatives;
  • Ongoing communication with site and corporate Human Resources team, specifically cross shift;
  • Take the lead on upcoming strategic Human Resources projects and initiatives.
  • Other HR activities to support the success of the Brucejack Mine.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management or related discipline combined with a minimum of eight to ten (8- 10) years of relevant experience with three (3) years’ experience in a Human Resources leadership role. Candidates that have a CHRP designation are preferred.

Skills:

  • Expert Proficiency with MS Office Suite; 
  • Previous experience working at remote mining operations and dealing with shift rotational schedules is considered an asset;
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of HR principles, policies & procedures, and strong understanding of Employment Standards Act and other related employment legislation;
  • Basic understanding of payroll fundamentals;
  • Cross-cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate payroll / HR concepts, policies and processes to employees;
  • Strong team player and able to work independently;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work;
  • Sound presentation, interpersonal and relationship building skills; and
  • Direct experience working a Human Resources Information System;
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality is required;

Additional Information:

  • Able to work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation plus 2 travel days.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts.
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to pass a criminal record check.
