ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Production Geology Coordinator, the Underground Production Geologist will perform his/her duties as a member of the Geology Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The Underground Production Geologist plays an important role in performing good geological practices in terms of providing quality geological information to mine operations to maximize the mining of the resources.

He/she also plays an important role in drill hole planning and follow-up, supervising mapping - core logging - sampling - 3D modeling/interpretation activities as well as ensuring compliance with QA/QC. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the Environment.

  • Manage tasks and projects as assigned to the position by the Production Geology Coordinator;
  • Assist with the management of the UG delineation drilling program which includes drill hole planning, ensuring priorities and targets are reached, and logging drill core in a timely manner;
  • Update 3d models for production purposes;
  • Map, sample & digitize UG development in ore and in waste;
  • Ensure daily follow-up of UG production activities and supervise the UG Production Geology Technicians;
  • Assist with the production geology activities such that files, maps, and records are accurate and up to date and in a timely manner;
  • Integrate the geology models into the mine plan;
  • Participate in the daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings with operations and engineering.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering;
  • Qualifications to register with NAPEG are required;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in geology with a minimum of 3 years in underground production;
  • Experience in narrow vein gold deposits is an asset;
  • Underground Mining Modules/Formation Modulaire du travailleur Minier or equivalent is an asset;
  • Qualify for an Approval Letter for access to Explosives (or equivalent);
  • Supervision experience is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Datamine, Deswik, and DHLogger softwares is considered an asset;
  • Leadership, Autonomy, and Team Spirit; Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities of the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val d'Or, Quebec.
