Downer Mining have a new opportunity for an experienced Leading Hand Fitter interested in joining the team on a permanent basis at Carrapateena, a large-scale, world class modern underground mine owned by OZ minerals located in South Australia 160km north of Port Augusta.

This role will work a 2:2 roster and we offer short chartered flights from Adelaide or Port Augusta to site.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, cost effective mechanical maintenance support to the project including preventative maintenance, repairs and installation activities.

• Oversee a team of tradespeople to ensure work is prioritised and completed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure trucks are greased daily during the operators' crib break on day shift.
• Ensure drill rigs are greased and checked at least once per day during day shift.
• Ensure mono pumps, gensets and compressors are checked at least once per shift.
• Ensure all major repairs are completed before the commencement of the night shift.
• Report any equipment faults or repairs to the Maintenance Superintendent to assist in scheduling appropriate maintenance.
• Monitor all parts and components used in daily tasks and raise any requirements with stores as appropriate to ensure stocks do not run out.
• Fill in maintenance reports completely and thoroughly so correct recording of maintenance is achieved.
• Undertake maintenance activities in line with the manufacturer's or the Company's procedures.
• Undertake breakdown repair work in a timely manner to minimise disruption to mining activities.

About You

• Relevant mechanic fitter trade certificate.
• Generic Underground Induction.
• Current Driver Licence.
• Experience leading a team of tradespeople
• Experience operating and working on underground metalliferous mining equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic circuits and diesel engines.
• Ability to operate as part of a team.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
• Current first aid certificate.
