The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINER to join our Training team in Voisey’s Bay.
This is a fixed term position to June 2022. It is a combination of site based work at the Voisey's Bay mine site - fly-in/fly-out and work from home, with a one week on, one week off rotation.
The primary role of the SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINER will be to maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) and to act as the subject matter expert of the system.
In this position, you will:
- Work closely with Aboriginal Affairs department to administer and support site initiatives;
- Deliver WorkPlace NL safety courses like Confined Space, Fall Protection and First Aid;
- Be certified or be able to get certification in WorkPlace NL Supervisory program to deliver and administer site Supervisory program;
- Maintain a Subject Matter Specialist in the LMS platform, educate and actively engage all employees on use;
- Produce reports and analyze Training data;
- Schedule courses;
- Update and develop training materials as required;
- Partner with departmental leaders to develop curricula, complete learning needs assessments and develop/maintain related training materials;
- Utilize SAP for requisitioning and support new employees to learn various aspects of SAP;
- Assist in the delivery and maintenance of Safety, Health and Environment, as well as, other site training courses;
- Collaborate closely with operational departments to optimize delivery of training, improving time and resources;
- Provide advice as vital to support the implementation of safety training programs, where practical instruction and classroom theory are necessary;
- Work with employees and external agencies/partners to develop/support individual assessments and program plans; ex. TOWES
- Support learning through online courses and external agencies to promote professional development;
- Provide support to students enrolled in external educational programs via tutoring, securing required assistance and establishing individual development plans.
Education
- Post-secondary program of study in safety, information technology, adult education or a related field. Other combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years’ experience, in a related industry.
- Experience with data management, coordination of training, training in the classroom and/or hands on training.
- Experience with an industrial training application, preferable at a Mine Site.
- Experience in adult teaching or instructing both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
- Experience working in a diverse culture and the ability to facilitate effectively.
- High degree of knowledge about Provincial Adult Education guidelines and Provincial OH&S regulations.
- Self-motivated and an active team member in the achievement of team goals.
- Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.).
- Safety oriented.
- WorkPlace NL course certifications
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
