Schedule / Terms of Employment: Temporary - 12-hour shifts, (7 days on / 7 days off)

Primary Purpose

The Blaster Helper will be responsible for providing support to mine operations in an active open pit coal mine.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fill blast holes with explosives.
  • Set detonator charges.
  • Blast the pattern.
  • Assist with stocking explosives.
  • Willingness to obtain their BC Blaster Certification.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • No previous blaster experience is required.
  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Skills and Abilities

  • First Aid/Mine Rescue Training is considered an asset.
  • Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Safety focused.
  • Positive attitude.

Work Environments/Conditions

Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold. Pickup truck available for breaks. Uneven ground, working around heavy equipment, and working with explosives (AN).

Work Location / Travel

  • Employee bus transport is available from Chetwynd, and Mackenzie, BC.
