POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Mining Engineer will be focused on providing mining short range plans, productivity analysis, drill and blast design, efficiency studies through start up, commissioning and operation at the Magino mine.

You will primarily be responsible for providing technical assistance to mine operations team; maintain daily, weekly and monthly reporting whilst identifying areas of concerns. Provide technical assistance to the drill & blast team. Maintain blast patterns and ensure reports are kept up to date ensuring compliance of all regulations is met. Monitor scheduling and progress of day to day operations to ensure short and long term plans are consistently met. Build positive working relationships with both technical services and mining operations departments.

As this is a start-up position, the successful candidate may also be required to contribute to the design and development of processes, practices, and methodologies in mine design and mine planning.

MAGINO MINE
The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold per year during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop annual and life of mine forecasts including mine plans, mine designs, schedules, and production forecasts.
• Develop and maintain mine engineering standards and provide open pit mine engineering knowledge
• Short term planning and scheduling of a mine through commissioning and start up.
• Drill and blast pattern design and layout.
• Provide support to mine operations team through construction of TSF, haul roads and pit development.
• Prepare and develop survey plans and layouts for the survey team at Magino.
• Prepare mining engineering drawings and 3D designs.
• Contribute to operating and capital cost estimations.
• Prepare productivity calculations and mining equipment specifications.
• Assist with short and long range mine planning
• Assists in the formulations of mining production strategies, policies and plans
• Assist with production schedules, labour and material input requirements to output quantity, quality and timing specifications
• Assist in the development of the annual ore reserve estimate
• Assist with Mine design using MineSite software

QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional Engineering designation or be eligible to registered as a professional engineer.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum (3) years of mining experience as consulting engineer, or a technical services role within a mining company.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of mining and mining engineering applications in underground and surface mining environments.
• Skills in researching, analysing and communicating information and developing appropriate conclusions and action plans.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and mine design/planning software.
• Experience in other mining aspects such as geology, mining operations, mine design, metallurgy, environmental reclamation.
• Knowledge of specific software and design approaches for geotechnical, ventilation and backfill, material movement simulations, and benching.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in English and fluency in French is an asset.
• Solid team participant and ability to take the lead, when required.
• Valid driver's licence with access to a personal vehicle.
• Interested in a supportive, engaging consulting engineering culture.
• Flexibility and ability to work from home in a virtual environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off, ten hour days.
