POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Mine Operations Training Supervisor is responsible for the training, follow-up, and record keeping for mining equipment operators.

The incumbent will coordinate training efforts with the Human Resources Department.

As this is a start-up position, the successful candidate must have hands on experience in best practice safety, mining, and maintenance methodologies to manage the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs for the Magino Project Operation.

MAGINO MINE:

The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducting training & development for Mine Mobile Equipment Operators and ensuring all persons working on site are duly authorized, appointed, and skilled. Improving the overall operational skill level
  • Report writing and record keeping.
  • Creating an environment that fosters a safe working environment
  • Develop and revise training and assessment resources
  • Identify training needs or gaps.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department
  • A demonstrated personal commitment to safety is required. This is seen through work habits, one on one discussions, and throughout the workplace behaviours.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.
• 5-10 years' experience operating heavy equipment in a heavy industrial/mining environment (preferably open pit mining).
• Able to assess the following machinery/equipment: Cat end dumps, grader, drills, dozers, and shovels, and other mine ancillary equipment.
• Proven competency in Training and Assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards
• Good computing skills using MS Office products.
• Mine rescue experience is preferred
• Superb interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of four days on and three days off, 12 hour days.
  • Magino promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
