POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Geo Tech Supervisor, the Technician, Exploration Geology/Core Cutter will be responsible for the daily handling and management of core samples from the drill rigg(s) at the Magino Gold Operation.

MAGINO MINE:
The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Core grabbing and managing of core storage
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds
  • Labelling core boxes, determining RQD and core recovery
  • Photographing drill core This position will require the daily interaction and communication with the geological team and drill contractors.
  • Assist geologists with marking up core for sampling
  • Core cutting and sampling of marked-up core
  • Sorting, bagging and tagging of drill core samples
  • Maintain a clean workstation throughout the day.
  • Field work: assisting geologists in the bush to conduct geological mapping and sampling programs.
  • Any other tasks as determined


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years of previous experience working for an exploration or mining company as a technician or core cutter is desirable. Previous experience working with a drilling company or assay laboratory would also be considered.
  • Valid Drivers License (Employment with the company is provisional based on being able to be insured to drive company vehicles)
  • Some basic abilities with Microsoft Office would be considered an asset

  • Must enjoy teamwork, be motivated and maintain a safe working environment
  • Comply with internal policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
  • Must be physically fit to perform daily field work
  • Demonstrate initiative, reliability and common sense
  • Detailed oriented and have good organizational skills
  • Read, understand and follow guidelines, instructions accurately and safely
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent manual dexterity and eye-hand co-ordination
  • Ability to work well independently and with others
  • Ensure full compliance with the company's Health &Safety and Professional Conduct Policies.
  • Own transportation is required.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • This is a Fixed Term position.
  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of twenty days on and ten days off, 10 hour days.
