Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest-grade gold deposits in the world which is now in production. The Company has an experienced team in mine operations dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold produced the first gold and sent its first tones of concentrate and dore bars. In the first quarter of 2020, FDN reached the commercial production.    THE ROLE  

The Mechanical Mining Supervisor Trainer is responsible to train and develop the skills of the maintenance technicians, require to perform at the very highest standards. He will deliver expert training specifically based on initial entry level skills, before progressing onto advanced Mechanical Skills. He will be expert in combining classroom technical foundation training with onthe-job training. He will be also an advisor for mining and maintenance operations.  
 
   RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Responsible to train, support, advise and develop the mobile mining mechanics personal.

• Responsible to participate in daily activities assigned and utilize the opportunity to assist coach and mentor providing hands on skills examples in the field in all aspects of equipment maintenance and repairs.

• Evaluate the training needs for the mechanics of the maintenance team, develop training programs.

• Prepare training materials for mechanics, do classroom training and coaching in the field.

• Make diagnoses and do problem analysis on the different equipment or systems.  

• Identify training gaps that require alternative training and provide specifics required to the General foreman. General foreman to source available options with suppliers.  

• Develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, reduce operating costs, and achieve greater availability, while optimizing the use of labor and materials

• In collaboration with the Health and Safety Department ensure that the necessary steps are taken to educate employees about the risks and providing appropriate training to reduce or eliminate workplace hazard, including occupational diseases, and protect service employees.

• Ready to follow up training with equipment manufacturer or dealer. 
 

   SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

• Mechanical Engineer diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineer.  A professional studies certification (DEP) in heavy equipment mechanics can also be considered.

• Have a minimum of 8 years experiences in underground mining industry.  

• Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.

• Have a minimum of 3 years experiences as mechanical trainer, familiar with training, course design, development, and evaluation.  

• Experience with mining underground equipment, as Jumbos, bolters, scoop trams, dumpers, etc.

• English: Intermediate - advanced; Spanish: Advanced.
