Role:

We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Mining Engineer to join an experienced mining team based in central Cardiff. This opportunity will involve working on a diverse range of exciting projects with multi-disciplinary teams both in the UK and overseas. The role will include international travel.

Job Description:

As a Principal Mining Consultant the primary role is to provide competent consulting services to support SRK projects and clients. The role involves:

  • Working in multi-disciplinary SRK teams providing input on a wide range of project studies and technical due diligence work.
  • Managing open pit and/or underground studies from scoping to feasibility level.
  • Representing SRK to clients and interfacing at all levels with clients’ management and operations.
  • Business development, including the generation of business from new and existing clients.
  • Providing technical leadership and developing Consultant and Senior level staff.
  • Mine planning including optimisation, mining method assessment, mine design, scheduling, waste management, equipment selection, ventilation, water management and cost estimation.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in a mining subject with relevant practical and operational experience gained in a mining environment.
  • Proficient use of mine optimisation and planning software (Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan and/or Datamine preferred).
  • Multi-commodity experience preferably in both metalliferous and bulk commodities.
  • Industry and consulting experience preferred, including senior mine operational and technical management positions.
  • Member of a recognised professional organisation. Chartered status from a recognised professional association would be an advantage.
  • Competent Person for Ore Reserve reporting.
  • Excellent report and proposal writing and strong English language and communication skills.
