POSITION
Mine Engineer Superintendent
THE ROLE
The Mine Engineer Superintendent is responsible for leading the engineering and mine planning group. Leads group in the development of short-medium-long range underground mine planning, budgeting, cost control, surveying, contracts administration, underground production, and construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct engineering and planning group to ensure that underground mine designs, plans and projects are complete and timely.
• Direct long-range mine planning to support forecasting, budgeting and life of mine plans.
• Analyze deviations in short-medium term planning (monthly / quarterly / semi-annually / annually), analyze deviations on long term planning.
• Direct mine optimizations and associated reporting requirements.
• Direct survey, ventilation, infrastructure and projects as managed by the department.
• Direct development and implementation of a production database and equipment productivity calculation.
• Implementation of planning software and the development of the technical department.
• Administration of mining contracts with a focus on cost control and data management.
• Development and manage the budget associated with the group.
• Training and coaching of expatriate and local staff.
• Direct the Month-end reporting reconciliation process for the mine.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in mine engineering or other related disciplines
• At least 12 years of experience in underground hard rock mining (technical and production), with increasing levels of responsibility
• Leadership of technical teams of 25+ employees
• Developing and managing annual mine operating budgets of $50M+
• Proficient in underground mine planning and design software (Vulcan, Deswik, or similar)
• Strong communication and report writing skills in Spanish and English
• Demonstrated ability to assemble and mentor a diverse technical team
• Working in remote locations developing green or brown fields projects
