The Opportunity:

We are seeking a qualified Metallurgical Technician to work at our Snow Lake Mill. This position is a Monday-Friday schedule, 8 hours a day.

Responsibilities :
  • Consults with Mill Superintendent or other Supervisory Personnel to ascertain objectives and identify problems associated with Milling procedures and processes.
  • Diagnoses complex equipment or process malfunctions, production or test problems, plans and carries out corrective action or directs Technicians in rectifying problems.
  • Analyzes operating data and makes recommendations or prepares reports regarding upgrading current milling methods or procedures, utilization and types of equipment, etc.
  • Ensures analyzers and sampling systems are maintained and calibrated to provide optimum process and quality control.
  • May advise operations personnel on process changes, reagent consumption, water and air adjustments, etc., to obtain desire process.
  • Interprets and evaluates experimental, test, and other data and prepares reports and recommendations based on evaluations.
  • Investigates methods of improving metallurgical processes to extract copper, nickel, and other metals from their ores.
  • Directs and co-ordinates the work of Mill Technicians or other workers engaged in various aspects of technical assignments.
  • Prepares cost budget of Mill operations to evaluate economic feasibility of new or proposed processes.
  • Co-ordinates recovery of samples from various stages of processing for lab analysis.
  • Initiates work orders for repairs or maintenance on analyzers and related process control systems.
  • Keeps abreast of new methods, techniques, etc., related to milling metallurgy.
  • May develop and write operating procedures indicating factors such as rates of feed, reagents, etc.
  • May co-ordinate the construction and operation of pilot plant or similar prototypes.
  • Makes calculations and prepares charts, graphs and supporting data for reports.

Qualifications
  • Related college diploma or degree.
  • Work experience in metallurgical/chemical production environment in testing and sampling is an advantage.
  • Work experience in analytical environment is an advantage, e.g. work with analytical/measuring equipment .
  • Good computer user's skills are an advantage with exposure to work with electronic data systems.
  • Result-oriented and self-motivated approach with good time management skills and ability to learn.
