Underground Safety Supervisor

DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Underground Safety Supervisor to join our fast moving team. The successful candidate will participate in development and implementation of the safety process and model the way for safety. The safety specialist will take an active approach in ensuring the health and safety of all employees in accordance with all regulatory agencies and policies, procedures and goals of the company.

Responsibilities

•Coordinates the planning and administration of appropriate projects and Safety & Health training programs

•Coordinates annual audiometric testing

•Conducts health sampling

•Assists in monitoring site contractors for compliance with contract Safety & Health requirements

•Targets and achieves results, sets challenging goals, prioritizes tasks, overcomes obstacles

•Presents safety meetings, annual refresher training, etc.

•Assists in management's investigation of injuries and incidents, using analytical techniques to find root causes

•Prepares technical reports, maintains safety related documentation, and performs analysis of incident data for trends and recommends corrective actions

•Other safety related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

•Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills are

essential

•3-5 years of surface mining or related experience

required

•Certified Mine Safety Professional

preferred

•Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of project personnel

required

•Strong organizational skills with results focus

required

•Ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities and objectives

required

•Prior knowledge and/or experience in industrial hygiene and MSHA regulations

preferred

•Ability to work with and communicate well with all levels of management as well as federal agencies

required

•Mine rescue experience and emergency response

preferred

•MSHA blue card for surface and underground

preferred

•Underground mining experience

required
