Position: Reliability Engineer - Maintenance

Reports to: Manager Maintenance and Asset Management,

2. THE ROLE

The Reliability Engineer will provide the leadership, coordination, and effort to ensure the Mine's reliability systems work efficiently while monitoring and reporting exceptions and, from analyzing exceptions, plans, and influences changes in systems relating to Maintenance issues and schedules. The Reliability Engineer will work in an orderly and proactive manner based on principles of reliable design and preventive/predictive maintenance practices.

This hard rock underground mine located in the United States and has continuously operated during the COVID-19 lockdown by utilizing high safety standards.

The companies miners go home every night to various towns and cities near the mine site. With travel restrictions, we are ONLY ABLE TO CONSIDER U.S NATIONALS FOR THIS ROLE AT THIS TIME.

3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Maintenance Strategies
  • Actively participate in the asset management department to support and promote agreed-upon decisions
  • Support effective leadership, performance management, career development, and succession planning of maintenance personnel
  • Support effective discipline, relationships, and communication within the team and between other departments and teams.
  • Assist with deployment and maintaining skill level requirements of maintenance personnel to achieve the annual plan
  • Provide technical support and actively coach personnel as needed
  • Establish and maintain relationships with operations personnel to ensure a focused effort on the elimination of failure and the extension of equipment life
  • Improve data integrity by continuously reviewing how data is recorded and influencing appropriate personnel to accurately record downtime data for use in reliability analysis
  • Develop and maintain reliability focused maintenance documentation for each asset
  • Provide a specialist resource by analyzing failure history, liaising with operators and maintenance personnel, and making life cycle comparisons
  • Participate in reviews and provide input and recommendations to improve current maintenance strategies in order to deliver reliability improvements
  • Provide monthly plant and other performance summaries of both planned and unplanned performance
  • Participate in and /or lead site improvement initiatives in the plant area

Achieve processing targets by:
  • Coordinating effective short and long-term maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Achieve effective preventative and breakdown maintenance procedures
  • Liaising with warehouse and suppliers (if appropriate) regarding parts and consumables requirements and plans
  • Continually reviewing the most appropriate maintenance procedures, methods, techniques, equipment, and plans
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel
  • Monitoring actual performance against targets and assist in corrective action to maintain targets

Provide progressive Processing operations through:
  • Keeping up to date with new developments in techniques and data processing for maintenance of equipment
  • Reviewing and implementing new techniques and procedures that will streamline maintenance processes as appropriate
  • Submission of proposals for more effective and efficient procedures and methods.
  • Support for and adherence to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations

People and Organization
  • Actively participate in the Asset Management department team to steer, promote and drive agreed on decisions of the department
  • Provide and ensure effective leadership, performance management, career development and succession planning of section personnel
  • Ensure effective discipline, communication, and relationships within the team and between teams
  • Consistently apply Workplace Management Procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and visions and values

4. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong background in mobile fleet maintenance
  • Experience with hoisting systems and vertical shaft maintenance preferred
  • Broad experience in hard rock mining equipment maintenance
  • Strong working ability with MS Office (spreadsheets, project planners, charting etc.)
  • Proficient in AUTOCAD
  • Able to establish and maintain influential relationships with internal and external persons
  • Results-driven achiever with exemplary planning and organization skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • High demonstrated ability in conceptual and practical planning skills, demonstrated competency in strategic planning
  • Proficient spreadsheet and database applications
  • Proficient in project management principles/leadership
  • Demonstrated project management experience; proficient in project management principles/leadership
  • Able to persuade, influence, and manage conflict resolution
  • Able to lead FEMA, FMECA, and RCA workshops
