General Supervisor - Fixed Plant Maintenance Mechanical

Barrick is looking for a General Supervisor - Mechanical to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team. This person will be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of the mechanical maintenance of the crushing, grinding, lime, and extraction area assets within the processing facility. The incumbent will ensure proper safety and environmental management systems are followed as well as organizing employee training activities.

Responsibilities:
  • In partnership with electrical, planning and reliability personnel develop and refine the mechanical maintenance strategies and programs for the plant. Show a clear understanding of Shutdown and Outages conditions.
  • In collaboration with the safety department, perform a risk assessment of the Mill mechanical maintenance activities with the goal of determining the critical tasks and workplaces. This will be the foundation for the creation of the standard maintenance procedures and the schedule of task observations and workplace inspections.
  • Develop and implement mechanical standards and procedures.
  • Assist in defining the training requirements and establishing a comprehensive Training Needs Analysis matrix for national mechanical personnel.
  • Interact with the HR personnel to identify, recruit and develop the mechanical maintenance team.
  • Ensure suitable care and maintenance programs are put in place by contractors to maintain the equipment before turnover. Develop and apply care and maintenance programs for the equipment turned over to PVDC.
  • Lead and implement the safety and training programs, including (but not limited to) the development of the Risk management, Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP's), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP's), Workplace Inspections, Task Observations and Training programs.
  • Manage and coordinate the Lime Crush, Kilns and Grinding mechanical maintenance activities to meet business objectives.
  • Ensure team members are focused on and comply with the site safety standards.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of section supervisors.
  • Ensure section personnel training plans are developed and implemented.
  • Work closely with the planning group in estimating resource and material requirements for forecast maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a certified program of competence as a Journey Millwright or Mechanical Tradesperson complemented by leadership and supervisory training. Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering are highly regarded.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Maintenance Systems
  • Certified training with pneumatic, hydraulic and electromechanical valve actuators.
  • 15+ years of experience in a hydro metallurgical, petro chemical or air separation plant, with 7+ years as a supervisor.
