Our Red Chris mine is located on the traditional territory of the Tahltan and we encourage qualified applicants from the local communities to apply. We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George and Smithers.

Who we're looking for:

Reporting to the Chief Surveyor at Red Chris Mine, the responsibilities of the Underground Surveyor role will include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare, maintain, and issue survey layouts and excavation instructions
  • Mark the location of mine development, diamond drill programs, and other works as required
  • Advance survey control and perform check-surveys on control as required
  • Assist surface civil and infrastructure construction projects relating to Red Chris Underground including the layout, quantity surveys, and drawing reviews
  • Perform daily advancement surveys, maintain as-builts, and provide updated prints and reports
  • Perform month end surveys, as well as month end reports and prints
  • Inspect, adjust, test and monitor the performance of survey/field equipment and other systems
  • Coordinate findings with the project team, relevant contractors, and others concerned with the project
  • Support ground support QA/QC by performing bolt pull tests, bolt counts/surveys, shotcrete strength and thickness verification, and prepare corresponding reports
  • Support ventilation monitoring including air flow/quality measurements, gas re-entry checks, and preparation of ventilation reports

The successful applicant will have strong written and oral communication skills, be a team player with a minimum of 5 years of underground mining experience, working in a similar capacity. The following skills and experience are required for the role.
  • Grade 12 Diploma is required, a post secondary education in a Survey related field is preferred
  • Experience supporting a mine contractor, or a rapid development project is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with ventilation monitoring or ground support QA/QC is desirable
  • Working knowledge of Deswik and MineSight 3D is preferred
  • Any knowledge of AutoCAD 3D, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office is considered an asset.
