The Company:

Our client, Lihir Gold Limited is a publicly listed gold producer who operate one of the largest gold mines in Papua New Guinea. The operation 900kms North-East of Port Moresby, Niolam Island (Lihir Island) provides long term employment opportunities with its prospective open pit gold mine. Globe 24-7 has been selected as the recruitment partner to assist with the sourcing process for this position.

The Role:

The successful candidate for this role will be able to Coordinate, Train, Mentor/Coach heavy equipment operators within the Mine department and the various Mining Operational Departments for Newcrest Mining Limited- Lihir. This includes Newcrest employees, business partners and contractors to ensure that the operational workforce is highly skilled in accordance with Site Training Standards, Regulations and Policies including the PNG quality framework and other Industry related Standards. You will also be responsible for:
  • Supporting the mine production superintendent to ensure safe operation of Haul Trucks, Auxiliary, Equipment Primary loading equipment, Production and Presplitting Drills.
  • Delivering in the management of site programs with key stakeholders in regard to operational training requirements
  • Using the Learning Management System as per defined standards, to guide the needs analysis, scheduling and recordkeeping processes for all maintenance training
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customer groups, which include all departments.
  • Ensuring all relevant competency-based assessments are current
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of nil on bench remote and tele remote systems
  • Utilisation of immersive simulator truck and equipment modules in training and refresher training for employees


Essential criteria:
  • Experience in operating heavy mobile plant equipment in a mining environment
  • Experience with Immersive simulators
  • Experience with line of site remote control equipment
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Time management skills
  • Leadership experience is essential

Qualifications:
  • Relevant surface mining qualification.
  • Relevant mobile equipment qualifications
  • PNG National Drivers License essential
  • Certificate IV in training and assessing


Requirements
  • Open to PNG nationals only
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
  • Must be able to provide a current police check
