Project Accountant (1-year contract)

Our Nuclear Division is looking for a Project Accountant to be part of our team. The position will be reporting to the Manager Project Accounting and Reporting, the Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects against plans, data gathering from key partners, transactional processing, and the reporting for a major contributor project(s), or a portfolio of projects.

How will you contribute to the team?
  • Data gathering from key partners (Project Controls, Procurement, Project Management, Risk, Billing, Payables, Management).
  • Perform revenue & accrual entries from information provided by Project Controls, Procurement, Project Management and Finance.
  • Preparation of Contract at Inception documentation.
  • Preparation of accounting position papers based on the latest project forecast and/or contract amendments / change orders.
  • Ensure balance sheet represents accurate project Financial Position.
  • Cash flow analysis and presentation of key variables to stakeholders.
  • Support monthly presentations with the preparation of variance reporting.
  • Preparation of Financial Project Status Report (PSR) and all appendices.
  • Preparation of Reconciliations for PSR to the Project management systems.
  • Presenting and explaining PSR results to various stakeholders.
  • Coordination with various stakeholders to ensure Project Status Report is accurately prepared.
  • Ensuring Project Changes/Reforecasts are calculated accurately and accounting adjustments properly reflected in Oracle system.
  • Ensuring Project Forecasts are completed and loaded in Forecasting software accurately.
  • Ensuring Monthly Project Estimates are completed on time and loaded in Forecasting software accurately.
  • Ensuring Oracle is up to date for Budget and Forecasts and are reconciled.
  • Preparation of Month/Quarter end entries and reporting to meet deadlines set out by business unit and corporate.
  • Ensuring Letters of Credit and other guarantees are in place and meet contractual obligations
  • Accounts Receivable and Work in Progress amounts are up to date and follow up on any overdue or outstanding amounts.
  • Ensuring adherence to all SNC-Lavalin SOPs, including all SNC-Lavalin Finance SOPs.
  • Ad-hoc reporting requests.
    What will you contribute?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related courses.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in accounting environment, preferably in a project environment with detailed knowledge of accounting for contract and change order documentation.
  • Accounting designation CPA (CGA/CA/CMA) preferred.
  • Advanced skills using complete Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Prior Oracle, or major ERP systems experience preferred (Adaptive insights, Alteryx, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • Deadline oriented.
  • Ability to maintain operational integrity by keeping financial information confidential.
