Description

Member of the End User Computing organization reporting to the Manager, Global End User Computing at Freeport-McMoRan. The person will serve as a subject matter expert in the area of mobility and support the mobile device management technology. In the role, the Senior Mobility Engineer will support Freeport's Mobility Strategy from both MIS requirements and business needs. The individual will work closely with the MIS Security, Collaboration, Infrastructure, and Architecture team members to deliver mobility solutions to our customers.

  • Ensure a thorough analysis of system service results, implementation of roadmap technologies and respond to any escalated service delivery issues
  • Responsible for creation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise device profiles, drive mobile device management configuration and operational support mobile device infrastructure to drive device compliance
  • Work effectively with other IS teams and outsourcing provider(s) to ensure technology solutions are effectively managed and performed
  • Review reports to ensure all services are completely and successfully delivered, correct routine problems when they are encountered, and use metrics to improve processes
  • Apply system solutions and create implementation and support models for technology encompassing a specific specialization or platform
  • Perform other duties as requested


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field and four (4) years of experience as a Mobility Engineer, Technical Infrastructure Support, or other related technical experience
  • Functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Ownership of Freeport's mobile technology operational support
    • Define processes, deliver optimization recommendations, and identify needed capabilities to "operationalize" the mobility infrastructure at Freeport
    • Scope, design, and implementation of mobility based solutions
    • Provide guidance and recommendations to mobile application teams
    • Understand needs and capabilities in order to provide overall roadmap regarding tools and technologies
    • Develop business cases for the business on areas where mobility creates business opportunities or solves outstanding problems
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the following:
    • Mobile Device Management (e.g. Afaria, AirWatch)
    • Mobile Devices (e.g. Apple, Samsung)
    • Wireless Communication (e.g., 802.1x, Cisco Access Points)
    • Operating Systems and related technologies for: IOS, Android, Windows Mobile
  • Solid technical aptitude, leadership, mentoring, and customer facing skills
  • Unique blend of skills and experience in the areas of infrastructure, mobile middleware, networking, security, and mobile application development
  • Ability to distill complex business issues into concise requirements statements
  • Strong analytical skills as well as oral and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Provide technical leadership in the area of mobility
  • Define standards and patterns, and assist project teams in designing scalable, extensible, cost effective solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Lead reviews of systems to identify limitations of technology and assess its ability to support current and future business/infrastructure needs
  • Build, develop and document infrastructure architecture with a focus on architectural standards, growth, performance, flexibility, reliability, scalability, and security
  • Produce architecture specification and design documents
  • Consult on architecture direction and design issues as well as influence peers, cross-functional partners, and management
  • Define, apply, and drive the use of patterns, best practices, and enterprise standards
  • Present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
  • Deliver mobility strategies and roadmaps
  • Experience communicating technology to leadership


Criteria & Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to travel to subsidiary locations
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable State laws
