Extractive Search has been retained to find a Site Finance Director / Commercial Manager for  a growing miner in South Africa. It is an extremely exciting time to join not only this asset but the wider group company at large as it continues to grow organically and through acquisition.

Reporting to Group CFO the incumbent will be the board’s onsite finance representative at a flagship asset taking responsibility for a broad range of tasks. The position will be highly visible to the board and offers long term progression.

Managing a small team of six while training and exercising a hands on approach, the Site FD will take overall responsibility for the following:

• Production of IFRS / SA compliant accounts.
• Ongoing development of financial controls and procedures.
• Management Accounting and Reporting including KPIs and production statistics.
• Procurement & contract management.
• Stores management inclusive of daily reporting. Spares etc.
• IT and administration.
• Acting relief for GM when on leave.
• Interaction and management of mining contractor.
• Management of Tax & Treasury reporting i.e. intercompany loans, cash flow etc.

The position will be filled by a qualified Accountant with eligibility to work in South Africa.

We anticipate the successful candidate having a minimum of 10 years relevant experience inclusive of remote mine site management.

Experience of lateral functions to finance such as procurement and contract management will be very well received. The successful person will be a self-starter who can manage this function with minimal supervision.

The position can be filled as a weekly roster or we can relocate people with families if suitable.
