JOB POSTING – FIELD GEOLOGY COORDINATORS

 

Donlin Gold is recruiting for Field Geology Coordinators for one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits, owned and operated by Donlin Gold LLC, which is owned equally by affiliates of Barrick Gold and NOVAGOLD Resources. Donlin Gold is expected to be one of just a handful of gold mines worldwide that produces more than one million ounces of gold annually.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidates will be responsible for coordinating drilling and supporting field activities for the core drilling program at Donlin Gold.  The position is key in executing a safe, efficient, and productive field program that achieves desired technical objectives which is anticipated to begin in April 2021 and run through October 2021.   The Field Geology Coordinators will work at a fly-in-fly-out remote project site located in Western Alaska. 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Coordinate and monitor field activities related to drilling operations.  Monitor trail construction and maintenance, drill site preparation, drill moves, drill orientation, water distribution, drill deck construction, reclamation, drilling activity to ensure geologic objectives are being met.
  • Responsible for coordinating field crews and daily tasks in accordance with established safety procedures, planned progress, and desired technical objectives.
  • Report on daily progress of safety, environmental, drill production, technical objective compliance, short-term field plans and other field activity progress.
  • Update geologic maps on new exposures.
  • Interact daily with safety, environmental, geology, field operations, camp operations, helicopter operations, logistics, medic, and administrative departments.
  • Comply with safety & health, environmental and Company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology related field (Geology, Geophysics, Geological Engineering). 5-7 years’ experience coordinating field activities in a remote camp preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Experience with specific aspects of remote field programs including helicopter support, sub-arctic weather conditions, and effective rock core recovery, handling, transport and logging.
