About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Mainline to supervise and provide leadership to a team of heavy haul Network Locomotive Drivers across the Pilbara network in order to achieve safety and operational goals. A key part of this critical role is the development and leadership of your team through a period of significant and exciting technological change as we lead the way in autonomous haulage.

Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile). We operate 95% Autonomous Trains, each train comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.4 kilometres in length with average of 60 trains operating every 24 hrs in the pooled fleet system.

What you'll bring

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced supervisor to provide safety leadership and manage the team through significant technology role change. This opportunity will be offered on a FIFO working arrangement, on a 7 days on, 7 nights on, 14 off roster and reporting to the Superintendent West Pilbara Operations Mainline, you will provide :
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Providing remote leadership to your team and engaging with them on a regular basis
  • Driving a strong safety culture within your team to work towards Rio Tinto's goal of zero harm
  • Leading safety discussions and pre-starts with your team
  • Leading productivity improvement within the team
  • Developing and coaching the team achieve business performance objectives
  • Engaging and communicating with multiple stakeholders to align and deliver team objectives

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • WA "C Class" manual drivers' licence
  • Significant experience in a similar leadership role in the heavy haul rail industry
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement experience

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Frontline Management
  • Strong background in the rail industry

Where you'll be working

Tom Price is located in the central Pilbara, west of Karijini National Park and is our original Pilbara mine, currently employing residential and fly in fly out employees. It is known as one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a high school, two primary schools a hospital and a high standard of recreational facilities.
