Position: Senior Mine Planning Engineer

Work Location: Fortescue Centre, East Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join the Long-Term Planning Team. Reporting to the Principal Mine Engineer-Long Term Planning, this role is responsible for a variety of long term mine planning work and other project work.

The work undertaken will be an opportunity to use the solid mine planning skills and experience developed over a number of years in a variety of tasks in addition to identifying and assisting the Long-Term Planning team in improving the current processes and procedures.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Long term mine design in accordance with the site design standards
  • Develop, prepare and deliver 5 year mine plans as required
  • Complete project and scenario analysis work as directed
  • Evaluation of new and innovative planning software solutions
  • Assist in the development and preparation of work required for the Life of Mine plan
  • Identify and implement improvement ideas in the respective planning process and systems
  • Communicate and liaise with the relevant parties with respect to the outcomes of the above work

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering (or similar) with a minimum of 10 years' experience
  • Knowledge in open pit mining, preferably within both iron ore and traditional hard rock open pit mines
  • Medium to long term planning, schedule and mine design knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High computer proficiency (ATS, Tableau and Vulcan)
  • Excellent communication skills and be a team player, with a strong desire to provide high quality work
