Reporting to the General Manager, the Environmental and Social Manager will have direct responsibility for
ensuring that the Company executes on all requirements under its Environmental Social Management Plan
(“ESMP”) and that all construction activities for the Bomboré Gold Project meets IFC and World Bank
standards or guidelines as determined by the Company.

The Company
The Bomboré Gold Project is 90% owned by Orezone Gold Corporation, a publicly listed company on the
TSX Venture Exchange. The directors and management of the Company have a proven track record of
discovering, financing, constructing, and operating mines in West Africa and globally.
The Company recently announced a full financing package for the construction of Bomboré and is rapidly
advancing the project towards first gold production scheduled for in Q3-2022.

The Role

  • Ensure all construction work is planned and executed in accordance with the approved ESMP and any other required standards (IFC, Equator Principles, and/or World Bank);
  • Close-out remaining gaps in environment and social action plan identified by an independent E&S firm;
  • Attend as a key participant in the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance Committee;
  • Ensure that Company policies, procedures and standards are maintained;
  • Communicate requirements to the construction teams (owner and contractors) so that all contract work is properly planned and conducted in conformance to the ESMP;
  • Set up and implement the appropriate environmental monitoring programs for the construction phase including recording all necessary data, filing all mandatory reports to the Company and government agencies, and implementing all actions plans as required (e.g. emergency response plans);
  • Liaise closely with the CSR department to ensure all RAP (Resettlement Action Plan) and associated environmental programs are correctly managed and implemented;
  • Manage all environmental activities to ensure compliance with applicable permits, laws and regulations, as well as internal policies;
  • Set targets and objectives for continuous improvement for department and monitor progress;
  • Provide guidance and expert advice on environmental matters to management and operational teams;
  • Facilitate risk assessments through common risk assessment tools;
  • Develop and conduct training and educational programs;
  • Oversee environmental audits and assessments;
  • Develop and assist with training personnel in the action plans for the site in case of environmental
  • incident, with specific tasks and responses to specific types of incidents;
  • Oversee and track the annual budget and costs for department; and
  • Coach, develop and train employees, promoting advancement and succession of national employees wherever possible.

The Requirements

  • Fluently bilingual in French and English (spoken and written);
  • Recognized accreditations and/or university degree in environmental sciences or related field;
  • Extensive professional work experience in the field of environmental management, with specific
  • experience in the mining sector in Africa, 10+ years of relevant experience, and prior involvement with greenfield construction project;
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental compliance, rules and regulations;
  • Field experience in managing community development programs and addressing local concerns in a positive and culturally-sensitive manner;
  • Broad knowledge of the mining industry, international exposure and appreciation of the environmental and community relations aspects of a project’s success including opportunities and liabilities;
  • Strong organizational skills and report writing experience in a fast-paced, deadline oriented workplace; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and stakeholder engagement experience.

Term
The position is a fixed term employment contract for a period of 18 to 24 months during the development,
construction, and commissioning of the project. Preference will be given to candidates who are available
immediately.

Location
This role will be based at the project’s mine site in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Some travel may be required as
needed.
