The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and self motivated Exploration Geologist with at least 2 years operational experience. You will assist in the short to medium term planning, design and implementation of both underground and surface exploration programmes to facilitate near-mine Inventory additions to the Tanami resource pipeline. Key functions of the role will be to drive continuous improvement in both the understanding of controls on ore distribution within and around the mine, and the technical skills of the broader Exploration Team.

In this role you will:

• Create early-stage geological models of targets and design and implement exploration programs that add value by expanding both the resource base and geological knowledge. These programs will be focussed on Near Mine resource development opportunities or developing resource projects areas including resource extensions of existing underground and open pit resources.
• Field-based activities such as mapping, core logging and geochemical sampling, collect accurate and reliable data for inclusion in geological models to be used by the Resource Geology Team.
• Help maintain operational efficiency through implementation of a schedule of exploration activities and effective liaison with the Project Exploration Geologists, Project Mine Geologists and Mine Planning Engineers.
• Meet individual and team KPI's to support work programs and strategy (e.g., productivity, budget and ounce delivery).
• Conduct QAQC analysis of laboratory results and, where necessary, action to address problems.
• Continually seek to improve effectiveness of Geology Team processes and systems. This should include the provision of technical support on geological matters, software use and provision of training to peers.

The Person:

• You will have a BSc (Hons) or MSc in Geological / Geosciences
• Your experience will include gold mining with a minimum of 2 years operational experience within different geological terrains preferably with both exploration and production geology experience
• You are familiar with the Australian mining industry and associated mining regulations through your work experience
• You have strong analytical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
• You are developing leadership and sound personnel management skills
• You have experience in financial management and budgeting skills
• You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work in a team environment
• You will have a demonstrated ability to supervise drilling contractors
• Your experience will include GIS and Modelling Software proficiency (preferably Leapfrog, ArcGIS and Vulcan)
• You have demonstrated administration and Microsoft Office skills.
