POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Mining Engineer will be focused on providing both short range and long range plans, drill and blast plans, productivity analysis and other planning functions at the Magino mine.

You will primarily be responsible for providing technical assistance to mine operations team whilst identifying risks and opportunities. Provide technical assistance to the drill & blast team. Maintain blast patterns and ensure reports are kept up to date ensuring compliance of all regulations is met. Monitor scheduling and progress of day to day operations to ensure short and long term plans are consistently met. Build positive working relationships with both technical services and all line departments.

As this is a start-up position, the successful candidate may also be required to contribute to the design and development of processes, practices, and methodologies in mine design and mine planning.

MAGINO MINE
The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold per year during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop Annual and Life of Mine Plans including production schedules and forecasts.
  • Update pit designs, intermediate phase designs, waste rock dumps, roads and ramps, stockpiles.
  • Assist with the Annual Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve Estimates.
  • Develop short term (daily, weekly, monthly) load and haul plans and production schedules. Identify risks and opportunities that may impact the mine plans.
  • Conduct equipment productivity analysis to identify risks and opportunities. Contribute to operating and capital cost estimations.
  • Develop drill and blast plans. Ensure optimal blast design to control dilution and ore losses.
  • Prepare survey plans and layouts for the survey team and ensure designs are implemented .


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional Engineering designation or be eligible to registered as a Professional Engineer.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum (3) years of experience in mine engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of mining and mining engineering applications.
  • Experience in other mining related disciplines including geology, geotechnical, mining, mine survey, metallurgy, environmental.
  • Proficiency in using mine planning software systems such as Minesight, Deswik, Vulcan or other similar systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in using other software applications such as MS Office, Fleet Management Systems, Data Analytical tools such as MS Power BI, Trimble Business Reporting will be highly regarded.
  • Have a strong commitment to working safely.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and fluency in French is an asset.
  • Solid team participant and ability to take the lead, when required.
  • Valid driver's licence with access to a personal vehicle.
  • Flexibility and ability to work remotely


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off, ten hour days.
