Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer to join our Dynamic Earth Solutions group in our Mississauga office.

Our Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) group forms an integrated core that provides clients with outstanding project execution through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise. From concept to operation, we’re committed to providing traditional services alongside proprietary technologies and innovative thinking to deliver custom, cost-effective solutions.

From studies, analysis, and design to construction supervision and monitoring, our DES group specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modelling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management.

In this role, you will perform general civil engineering and design activities involving site preparation, grading, drainage, roads, paving, etc. for mining and heavy industrial projects. You will:

• Lead the civil project team through to completion of assigned projects in areas of bulk earthworks, site drainage, mine and plant roads and earth and mine tailings structures design.
• QA/QC of design calculations and contract documents.
• Assume responsibilities of the civil discipline practice on assigned project scope.
• Work collaboratively with the project managers and multi-discipline design teams.
• Ensure quality control such as drawing and calculation checking and verification.

You bring to the role:

• Civil Engineering degree from a recognized engineering program
• Licensed Engineer within the province of Ontario preferred
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience (i.e., mining, energy or infrastructure), including:
  • Site grading design
  • Drainage design, storm sewer design, and storm management
  • Road design
  • Sanitary sewer design
  • Hydrology and hydraulics
• Thorough understanding of the design process including the application of civil design software packages.
• Previous design experience in bulk earthworks, site grading, storm drainage, access and haul roads and earth structures for large size projects.
• The ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.

This is a contract position a minimum of six months or longer .
